    Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam is popularly known as the "Queen of Hill Stations" and is filled with beautiful mountains, lakes, gardens and forests all around.
    It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 feet) above sea level.

    Ooty is also known as the "Blue Mountains" owing to the indigo cover of the beautiful Kurinji flower that blooms on the slopes of the Nilgiris once every 12 years. The place gets a different aura when these flower blossom.


    Mountains, lakes, gardens, waterfalls, wildlife and scenic beauty - Ooty has everything. 
    But the real fun starts even before you enter Ooty. The famous toy train ride that connects Mettupalayam and Ooty is the perfect way to enter this hill station. The ride is through beautiful mountain views crossing through bridges, tunnels and steep curves. 

     

    Ooty is usually crowded in summers, as it attracts the nearby city crowd with its soothing climate.
    It is perfect weekend getaway for honeymooners, family or adventure travellers.

    Botanical Gardens

    Ooty Botanical Gardens is spread across massive 22-acres. The Botanical Garden is lush, green, and well-maintained by the government. The gardens have around a thousand species of plant and has a 20-million-year-old fossilised tree. A flower show along with an exhibition of rare plant species is held in the month of May every year. Another attraction here is the Toda tribe settlement towards the top of the garden. (Todas are the original tribes of Ooty). Be prepared for long walk to explore this beautiful place.

      Ooty Toy Train

      Entry Fees :₹ 142 Time To Visit :7 AM and 3 PM

      A ride on Ooty Toy Train is the best way enter Ooty. The train ride up the hill with its steep curves and tunnels is not only a fun experience but it also offers amazing views. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway was built by the British in 1908. It is a 46-kms journey that starts from Mettupalayam and ends at Ooty in five hours. The train has small blue wooden bogies with large windows and crosses almost 250 bridges and 15 tunnels in its journey. The train starts from Metupalaiyam at 7:10 AM and from Ooty at 3 PM. One way fare for first class is INR 142 and INR 24 for second class ticket.

        Rose garden

                              Mudumalai National Park is located at a distance of 40 kms from Ooty and is at one an half hour drive away with many hair pin bends on the road. This park is a famous Tiger Reserve, and is home to several wildlife and bird species. This park lies in between Kerala and Karnataka states. Langur, tiger, leopard, jackal, sloth bear, elephants, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, mouse deer, wild boar and flying squirrel are part of the wildlife in Mudumalai. Mudumalai has option for Van Safari (INR 45) and Elephant Safari (INR 100) to explore the national park.
