    The picturesque Munnar is set between the pristine valleys and mountains of the Western Ghats. Munnar is breathtakingly beautiful - a haven of peace and tranquility. The place is filled with the aromas from tea and spice plantations. 
    Set at an altitude of 6000 ft, it is idyllic tourist destination with pleasant climate throughout the year. 

    Misty hills, valleys, streams, waterfalls, tea plantations, forests, exotic species of flora and fauna - all this and more are present in this gorgeous hill station.

    Munnar got its name from its strategic location at the confluence of three rivers – Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala Rivers. 'Moonu' means 'three' and 'Aru' means 'river'. 

    Munnar has served as summer capital of the British in South India. 

    Munnar is also famous for Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana), flower which blooms once in twelve years that can be seen on the hill ranges of Munnar. This flower attracts lots of tourists from all over the world. This flower can be next seen in 2018.

    Evarikulam National Park

    The most sought after destination in Munnar is the Evarikulam National Park which holds the largest population of the endangered and exquisite Nilgiri Tahr (Nilgiri Ibex). This 97 sq. km. park is breathtakingly beautiful and is rich in variety of flora and fauna. The Anamudi peak (2695 Mts) - the highest peak in southern India; is located in the Southern region of this park. The national park is divided into three areas - the core area, the buffer area and the tourism area. In which, the Rajamalai is known to be the tourism area of the park. Here, the tourists are allowed to travel deep into the forest to explore the hidden beauty of the environment around. Private vehicles are not allowed inside. Only few mini buses are operated inside in order to control the environment pollution. The trips are organized by the forest department. Eravikulam National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.       Rajamala

                    Munnar Tea Museum is also known by many names like Tata Tea Museum / Nalluthanni Estate / Kannan Devan Tea Museum. This museum was opened in 2005 and is owned by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company. It houses curiousities, photographs and machineries, depicting a turning point that contributed to Idukki's flourishing tea industry.
