    Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

    The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is located on the east coast of Vembanad lake. Set in the beautiful backwaters the 14 acres bird sanctuary is a favourite haunt of migratory birds. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary - also called the Vembanad Bird Sanctuary - is located on the banks of the Lake Vembanad. Houseboats and motorboats are available on hire for bird watching on the lake.

      Pathiramanal

      Pathiramanal, a small island on the backwaters of Alappuzha, is a haven for hundreds of rare birds migrating from different parts of the world. The scenic beauty of both sides of the lake as well as that of the island is mind blowing. The name Pathiramanal means 'sands of night'. Pathiramanal island is accessible only by boat. You can reach there after 1 1/2 hours drive by motor boat or 30 minutes by speed boat from Alleppey. And 40 minutes from Kumarakom. The journey to Pathiramanal through Vembanad Lake is a marvellous experience. Other than the natural beauty of the island it is also a bird watcher's paradise.

          Aruvikkuzhi Falls

          Aruvikkuzhi Falls is a beautiful five level waterfall near Kottayam. The over 100 feet high water falls is a famous picnic spot.
