    Description

    Kolkata also known as Calcutta is the capital of West Bengal. 

    The Port of Kolkata is India's oldest operating port. It was a prominent center during the British rule. The remains of its significant past can be still seen in its Victorian style architecture, trams etc

    This popular city is located on the east bank of the Hooghly River and the iconic Howrah Bridge is built on this river.

    Kolkata is often refered as "City of Joy".

    Taste the famous Bengali sweets in the city. You will find numerous shops selling delicious Bengali sondesh, Rosogulla, mishti doi and many more mouthwatering dishes.

    Victoria Memorial

    The Victoria Memorial is a large marble building, built between 1906 and 1921 and dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria. Presently the building is turned into a museum and is one of a popular tourist attractions of Kolkata. It contains paintings, weapons, sculptors, maps, coins, stamps and many artifacts of British raj and also houses various relics of the freedom fighters. This beautiful building looks even more spectacular during the night light show. There is a sixteen-foot tall bronze statue of victory, mounted on ball bearings on the top of the Victoria Memorial. It is surrounded by beautiful garden that has many statues and sculptures.

                                                Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple Baidyanath Dham

                                                Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, also known as Baba Baidyanath dham - is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and is sacred Lord Shiva devotees. It is located in Deoghar in Jharkhand state. Baidyanath temple complex consists of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, and 21 other temples. According to Hindu beliefs, the demon king Ravana worshipped Shiva at the current site of the temple to get the boons that he later used to wreak havoc in the world. Ravana offered his ten heads one after another to Shiva as a sacrifice. Pleased with this, Shiva descended to cure Ravana who was injured. As he acted as a doctor, he is referred to as Vaidhya ("doctor"). From this aspect of Shiva, the temple derives its name as Baidyanath. This temple is 250kms from Patna and 325kms from Kolkata
