    Description

    Kochi, formerly known as Cochin, is a city in Kerala. It is a bustling commercial port and is popularly known as the Queen of Arabian Sea. It flaunts to be one of the finest natural harbours of the world.

    Kochi has many things to offer from historical monuments, forts, palaces, temples to scenic locations and beautiful beaches.

    The city derives its name from the Malayalam word Kochazhi meaning small lagoon.

    Shopping:
    MG Road in Kochi is the main area for shopping. Kochi is famous for coir based handicrafts.

     

    Things to do:
    The backwaters of Kochi are best enjoyed through backwater cruises. There are various cruising options available, the most famous is the sunset cruising.

     

    Festivals:
    Onam festival is celebrated in great pomp all over Kerala.
    The Thirikkakara Vamanamoorthy Temple near Kochi hosts the Onam feast splendidly. Onam usually falls between August and September.

    Chinese Fishing Nets
