    Kalimpong is a beautiful hill station, located at an average elevation of 1,250 metres and at a distance of 50 kms from Darjeeling. 

    Kalimpong is a important tourist destination owing to its temperate climate, magnificent Himalayan beauty and proximity to popular tourist locations in the region. It has a flower market notable for its wide array of orchids.

    Kalimpong is located at an altitude of 4,100ft. Because of its relatively lower altitude compared to Darjeeling or Gangtok, the weather is milder and pleasant for most part of the year. And therefore it suits all tourists who are looking for such pleasant weather combined with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan snow peaks, sweeping landscapes and lush greenery. 

    Kalimpong is also renowned for its Buddhists monasteries and churches and Tibetan handicrafts etc.

     

    This beautiful hill station overlooks the roaring Teesta River and the splendid Kanchenjunga.

    Kalimpong has many hiking and trekking routes; and rafting on the Teesta River is another adventuroues activity in this region.

     

    Kalimpong was an important point in the ancient Silk Road for the trade of fur, wool and food grains between India and Tibet. Its proximity to Nathu La and Jelep La has provided great importance to this place.
