    Description

    Corbett National Park of Uttarakhand, is the perfect way to explore the real jungle; away from the concrete jungle that we live on.

    It is not just a park, but is a renowned tiger reserve. This park is mainly recognised for Project Tiger which is a project on India's endangered Bengal tiger. The park covers an area of 1318.54 sq.km. It is the oldest National Park in India, which was established in 1936.

    The Park is divided into 5 zones namely Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna, Domunda and Sonanandi and all of them have different gates. 

     

    A visit to Corbett National Park is incomplete without a jungle safari. There are three types of safaris in Corbett that you can choose from. 
    •  Jeep Safari - widely preferred by small group of people 
    •  Elephant safari - it is only available in Bijrani and Dhikala zone. (At Dhikala zone for those staying in forest lodges)
    •  Canter safari -  safari on 16 Seater vehicle which is mainly preferred by large groups. (Canter Safari is only available at Dhikala Zone)

     

    The Kosi River and Ramganga River run at close proximity of this park; providing ample opputunity for fishing and bird watching. And forms a good water source for the wild animals.

     

    Corbett National Park has all the options for a perfect adventurous, de-stressing, thrilling weekend trip.

     

    Best time to visit:
    The park is mostly closed during monsoon seasom. It overall remains open from the mid of November to the mid of June months. 
    •  The Jhirna zone in the park remains open for whole year long. 
    •  The famous Birjani zone of the park is open from mid of October to mid of June month. 
    •  And the Dhikala zone is open from mid November to mid of June. 
    During monsoon period, the road of Dhikala and Birjani zones get completely washed away. 


    Points to note:
    •  Permits are necessary for entering the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
    •  Driving after the sunset is prohibited inside the reserve

    Jungle Safaris

      Dhikala

      Dhikala Zone is one of the most visited Safari zone of the Corbett National Park. It is the best place to opt for Canter safari and Elephant safari. It is located 50 kms inside dense forest of Jim Corbett. This range is known for panoramic valley views and it is known for best sightings of various wild animals. Dhangadi Gate is a major entry gate for visitors going to Dhikala Range Corbett Nationa Park. The Dhikala Complex is most sought after place to stay near the park. Only some lodges at Dhikala permits night stay in the wild.

        Bijrani

        Bijrani zone safari is famous for tiger spotting. Bijrani Zone can be explore by safaris from Amdanda Gate. It is considered as a premium zone of the park, becaus of the exotic flora, fauna and amazing vegetation found here.

          Dhangarhi Museum is at the main entry gate of the park and provides the best introduction to Jim Corbett National Park. The museum depicts about the land topography and wildlife species residing the park.                 Garjia Temple / Garjiya Mata Temple

                Garjia Devi Temple is situated 14 km from Ramnagar on the way to Ranikhet. It is one of the shakti shrine of Goddess Parwati. The temple is located amazingly on top of a rock in between river Kosi. One has to climb many steep steps to reach the temple. The temple is mostly inaccessible in monsoon season due to high water level at Kosi river. Every year during Karthik Poornima, a large fair is conducted in the temple which attracts large number of devotees.

                  Sitabani Forest Reserve

                  Sitabani Forest Reserve is a hard forest area at a distance of 10 km from Ramnagar. It is not the part of Corbett Tiger Reserve. Sitabani is a best place to watch beautiful birds and various wildlife. This place has a historic connect, and is believed that Goddess Sita spent her days of expulsion here. You can exlore this forest area by Elephant or Jeep Safari. You can also find Sitabani Temple here, which is located in near Kota range of Corbett National Park.
