    Haridwar, as the name suggests, is believed to be the 'Gateway to God'.

    Haridwar is believed to be the place where Lord Vishnu was first manifested in this world, thereby making this land one of the most auspicious lands for the Hindus. 

     

    The main attraction of Haridwar is the Ganga river. It is here that the Ganges River leaves the Himalayan mountain range and enters the plains. 
    Har-Ki-Pauri Ghat is considered to be one of the most auspicious Ghats to take a holy dip in the sacred waters of Ganga.
    Aartis and chants at Har Ki Pauri in the evening; gives a divine aura to this spiritual town.

    Mansa Devi Temple, Chandi Devi Temple, and Maya Devi temple are few other attractions of Haridwar. 

    Haridwar is a ‘Char Dhams’ and attracts a huge number of devotees.

    Kumbh Mela - Har-Ki-Pauri Ghat in Haridwar serves as the venue for the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar when millions of people take holy bath in the Ganges to attain salvation.

According to Indian mythology, when the demon kings Shumbha and Nishumbha had thrown out Gods from the heaven, Goddess Chandi was created by bestowing all the powers to save the Gods.
