    Dubare Elephant Camp

    Entry Fees :₹ 20 Time To Visit :10:00 AM -12:00 PM and 4:00 PM- 5:00 PM

    Dubare is known for its elephant camp, its a forest camp set on the banks of the river Kaveri. It is an important base for the Karnataka Forest Department's elephants. Tourists can enjoy elephant rides in this camp and spent quality time amidst these Asiatic beasts. You can feed, bathe the elephants by paying extra charges. The Elephant camp is located on the other side of the river Kaveri. One can use the local boating facility to cross the river to get into the camp. The boating facility costs Rs. 20 per person. However, there is also a rocky path around, and you can cross the Kaveri by trekking on foot also. You can enjoy the experience of still water rafting before reaching the Elephant Camp.

      Iruppu Falls / Lakshmana Tirtha Falls

      A waterfall gushing down from 60 meters amidst silent forest is a brief introduction of Iruppu Falls; one of the popular tourist places in Coorg. Backing its religious significance, it is believed that when Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana were in search of Devi Sita, then Lord Rama felt thirsty upon which Lakshmana shot an arrow to the ground from where water oozed to quench his thirst. En route to the falls you can find Rameshwara Temple which is located on the banks of the Lakshamana Tirtha River. The fall is located close to the Nagarhole National Park. It is at a distance of 80 kms from Raja seat.

        Abbey Falls

        The Abbey Falls is located 6 km from Madikere town. The waterfalls is nestled amid stretches of coffee plantations and pepper vines. It is also a popular trekking spot in Coorg. Walk down the hanging bridge to have a fantastic view of the falls; with water cascading down from 70 feet. It is one of the beautiful falls of South India.

          Talakaveri / Bhagamandala

          Talakaveri is located about 53 kilometres from Coorg, and is considered to be the origin of River Kaveri. It is about 1200 meters above sea level and offers picturesque scenic beauty. Bhagamandala is home to Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple and the Triveni Sangam. Triveni Sangam is formed by the confluence of three rivers - Kaveri, Kannike and Sujyoti. It is a popular pilgrimage spot in South India, where devotees take a dip into the water to free themselves from physical and mental ailments.

                Golden Temple / Namdroling Monastery / Kushalanagara

                Kushalanagara is home to magnificent Namdroling Monastery or Golden Temple. Namdroling Monastery is the largest Buddhism teaching centre and houses over five thousand monks and nuns.                   Omkareshwara Temple

                    Madikeri Fort

                    Madikeri Fort is a 17th century palace which was originally built in mud but later refined in granite. The interesting aspect of the fort is that the church inside was once the site of a temple. There is a secret explorable passageways add to the mystery of the fort. You can witness beautiful sunset from the palace; if you visit it in the evening. You can find an old palace, a library and a museum near the fort. The museum displays the weaponry of Tipu Sultan and some other artefacts.

                      Nagarhole National Park

                      Nagarhole National Park also known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park. It is essentially a Tiger Reserve. Nagarhole National Park is 85 kms from Coorg and is covered with dense forest.

                          Raja’s Tomb (Gaddige)

                          Gaddige also known as Raja’s tomb is a monument containing the mortal remains of the royal Kodavas. The tombs are built in Muhammadan style with tombs at the center and turrets at the corners. Nandi figures are carved on top of the corners. These tombs date back to 1820. You can walk to the narrow stairways to the top and watch the spectacular view of Madikeri Town. Gaddige is located just 1 Km from Madikeri town.

                            Chelavara falls

                            Chelavara Falls is a beautiful waterfall dropping from a height of about 150 feet. It is a natural waterfall formed by small stream, a tributary of Kaveri. It is situated in the middle of coffee plantations and is a very scenic place to visit. You will have to walk a little bit to reach this falls. The waterfall is locally known as Emepaare, which means tortoise in local Kodava language. It derives this name from the tortoise shaped rock over which the water cascades. There is a big pool of water thats accumulated at the bottom of falls and it attracts tourists to play in the waters. But there are many danger sign boards all over place and it is advice not to get into water. This waterfall is enroute Iruppu Falls and is 43 kms from Raja seat. And is a 17 kms deviation from main route (near Arameri). This waterfall 21 Kms from Virajpet.

                              Madikeri is 120 km from Mysore and 260 km from Bangalore.

                              Coorg, sandwiched between Karnataka and Kerala States, is well-connected by bus service and is two hour’s drive from Mysore. The drive is worth it as one could enjoy miles of greenery, thick forests, acres and acres of coffee estates and shimmering streams.
