    Chikkmangalur is home for the highest peak in Karnataka - Mulyanagiri. This peak is famous among trekkers and nature lovers because of its scenic setting.

     

    Chickmagalur is popularly known as the coffee land of India, and is famous for its aromatic coffee.

     

    The name 'Chikmagalur' means - Young Daughter’s Town. It gains its name as it is believed that this town was offered as a dowry to younger daughter of Rukmangada, the chief of Sakrepanta.

                        Hebbe Falls about 10 km away from the famous hill station Kemmangundi.This waterfalls are inside a coffee estate and can be reached either by walk or four-wheeler. Hebbe Falls gushes down from a height of 551 ft in two stages to form Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls). It is one of the most stunning falls in Chikmangalur.                             Kallathigiri Falls

                            Kallathigiri Falls is situated at a distance of 10 km from Kemmangundi. Here water falls from a height of 122 meters from the Chandra Drona hill amidst fascinating scenery. It is also known as Kalahasthi Falls. The water flowing through here is believed to cure illnesses if one takes a dip. Near the Kallathigiri Falls there is an ancient temple which is believed to have been constructed during the reign of the Vijayanagar Empire. The Veerabhadra Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has been constructed in a gap between rocks.This temple can be approached after crossing the waterfall.
