    Paro

    Paro is a small beautiful town of Bhutan, situated at a height of about 2280 metres on the banks of Pa Chu river. It is one of the prime tourist locations in Bhutan. Famous for its Tiger Nest monastery over the cliff. Paro has colourfully painted shops spread all over it roads. It is one of the serene, calm and untouched holiday destination. Paro is also one of the most fertile valley in the Kingdom producing a bulk of the locally famous red rice from its terraced fields.

        Paro Dzong is a fortress, which is known to have protected Bhutan from foreign invasion. This fine example of Bhutanese architecture is currently Monastery and also houses numerous government offices. The traditional mask dances outside this monastery attracts lot of visitors. The approach to the Dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called Nemi Zam. A walk through the bridge, over a stone inlaid path, offers a good view of the architectural wonder of the Dzong as well as life around it.

          Paro takstang

          Takstang monastery is one of the oldest and famous monastery in Bhutan. Uniquely located on the cliff of the valley this sacred monastery is one of picturesque place of Bhutan. It is perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche, the founder of Bhutanese Buddhism, arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called "Tiger's Nest". The monastery is located approximately 10 km. to the north of Paro. It takes around 2-3 hours for the uphill hike to reach the monastery. The journey is rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley. One needs to obtain special permit to visit the monastery.

            Chele La Pass

            Chele la (pass), at an elevation 3,988 meters is considered to be one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About an hour's drive along a thickly-forested road, is this Pass-a botanical paradise. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. It is also marked by hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. In winters, you will encounter frozen rivers, and snow on the way to the pass.

                    Dochula pass is at an altitude of 3,050 meters above sea-level. It is marked by an array of prayer flags & 108 chortens. This high altitude pass is 23 kilometers from Thimphu on the way to Punakha. One can see panoramic view of the Bhutanese Himalayas from here. Unique spiral of 108 chortens, the Druk Wangyel Lhakhang - are some of the main attractions here. A short hiking route will take you up to the "Lungchuzekha temple"
