    Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage in Bihar's Gaya district. 
    It is the famous place where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.

    Bodh Gaya is the most important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. It is one of the popular pilgrim places to visit (apart from Kushinagar, Lumbini, and Sarnath), which related to the life of Gautama Buddha.

    Bodh Gaya is situated by the bank of river Neranjana.

    The Mahabodhi Temple, is the prime attraction of Bodh Gaya. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Mahabodhi Temple

    Mahabodhi Temple complex contains the famous Mahabodhi Temple with the diamond throne (called the Vajrasana) and the holy Bodhi tree. It is believed that about 280 years after the Enlightenment of the Buddha, Emperor Ashoka visited Bodh Gaya, and he built the original Mahabodhi temple. The temple is 55 metres and the current temple structure has undergone many renovations.
