It is a unique experience to meet the friendly Apatani tribal folk, who have facial tattoos and wear nose plugs in their villages. The best villages to visit are, Hong, Hijo, Hari, Bamin and Dutta. All these villages are within a 10 km radius and it is advisable to take a local guide along with you.

By Air
Tezpur airport is the closest airport and it is 280 km from Ziro.
Guwahati airport is the closest international airport (445 kms); and it has frequent flights from most of the metros in the country.
Jorhat Airport (JRH) is another airport close to Ziro.
There is a proposed airport near Ziro; but it is currently not operational.
By Train
Kathal Pukhuri is the nearest rail head (120 kms) to Ziro. There are daily trains from Guwahati to Kathal Pukhuri. It takes 8 hrs to reach Kathal Pukhuri. From there you can hire a taxi till Ziro.
Naharlagun (110 kms) near Itanagar and Tezpur Railway Station (280 kms) are other option.
By Road
Guwahati is 470 km from Ziro and it takes 9 hrs to travel. The road condition is good and it covers NH27 and NH15.
You can hire taxi or take government bus to reach Ziro. The journey is filled with immense scenic beauty to offer.
